Demonstrations and workshops
Rachel has a wealth of experience, having provided workshops, demonstrations and talks for a number of organisations across the United Kingdom. Organisations have included North Edinburgh Arts, Whale Arts, the NHS, Robert Gordon University Alumni Society, Gray’s School of Art Degree Show, The ICHF (Sewing for Pleasure and Creative Stitches), Coats Crafts UK, Edinburgh Council, Fife Council, STV, Home & Interiors Scotland, Wigtown Book Festival and the Glasgow Merchant City festival.
Rachel has 4yrs experience working as a Lecturer in Art and Design delivering accredited SQA units on both an Art and Design and Creative Business course. These include the following: Textile Design and Surface Decoration, Printmaking, Mixed Media, Analytical Drawing, Art & Design Context, Freelance Working Skills and How to write a Business Plan. She has also designed and delivered workshops for schools, specifically tailored to fit in with their Curriculum for Excellence. Schools she has taught at – Aberdour Primary, Corstorphine Primary, Gylemuir Primary, Westburn Primary and The Edinburgh Academy Junior School.
In 2014 Rachel launched a Creative Social Enterprise Project at North Edinburgh Arts. A project which was designed to teach local young people how to design, brand, package, merchandise and sell their own handmade collections with a strong focus on recycling. The aim was to help to develop children’s creative skills as well as provide them with basic retail and business experience. View the Eco Kids publication.
